As the first attempt at high power rocketry form the SEDS society, the goal of albatross was to include part of the DNA of the university of Bristol in its deployable drone payload. The predecessor to the later Prometheus rocket, a launch vehicle was designed to propel a 2kg drone to hights of 3km before allowing the drone to deploy and glide back to the surface taking video on the inbuilt thermal camera as it flew. The aim of this construction was to act as a rapidly deployable search and rescue vehicle, however complications arose leading to albatross being firmly grounded before its maiden flight.
