As a brand-new team with no previous experience with rocketry the Soteria project was an incredibly fun introduction into the hobby. A hand made fiberglass composite minimum diameter rocket aimed at achieving a maximum altitude was designed with a actuating nosecone revealing a thermal camera poised to detect fledgling wildfires on the rockets decent under parachute. One lesson however to take away from this project, never compromise the integrity of the vehicle’s nosecone. On its way up the mechanism holding the nosecone together failed scattering electronics across Wales giving the local sheep something to tinker with in their free time.
